As a foster parent, you have the significant responsibility of providing the teen in your care with role-modeling behaviors and actively teaching the practical life skills that he or she will need to live independently. You can do this by appropriately handling challenges with a spouse or significant other, friends, relatives, or co-workers. Most importantly, you must remain as a reliable support for the teen in your care, even after he or she is no longer in care, but needs a home to return to for visits and moral support.
